Sometimes your stone floor will just require a clean rather than restoring or having old layers of sealer removed.

Rocura use premium alkaline products to clean your stone floor, removing the soiling and build up caused by acidic items.

The standard process is to break them down with the right product and a mono rotary machine and then rinse and vacuum the waste water away.

Grout Cleaning:
Grout cleaning can be a particular issue but with the right product and procedure we can normally make it look like new again.

Stain Removal:
Stain removal from natural stone can often be difficult but we are normally successful; either using products to remove the marks immediately or a poultice method to draw them out.

Cleaning Process:
Exactly which process is used will be determined by several factors which will be discussed with you on your first enquiry and then further on our site visit and inspection.

Stone Floor Polishing in Weybridge

Over time your floor can become dull and lose its lustre and shine. The dullness is often caused by microscopic scratches on the surface of the surface where it has been walked on. This will make its appearance deteriorate and we can bring it back to its former glory.

When the floor is polished we can use diamonds to gradually reduce the surface tension and it is this which gives the high shine which we are looking for.

Stone Floor Sealing in Weybridge

Stone floor sealing is, in our opinion vital to increase your floors lifespan, whilst making it look as good as it possibly can.

Seals can be applied to new installations as well as after cleaning, polishing or restoration has taken place.

For natural stone we will normally suggest an impregnating stone floor sealer which penetrates and provides protection against staining without altering the look of the stone. Other times for certain types of surface we will suggest either a topical sealer or a colour enhancer.

Stone Floor Restoration in Weybridge

Stone floor restoration can take many forms and often when clients call thinking that a clean is all that will be required there ends up being an element of restoration involved as well or instead.

One of the reasons natural stone can last so long is that you can restore it by removing a very small amount of it from the surface (microns at a time) giving it a brand new appearance. We do this often if floors are acid etched or very lightly scratched.

In the case of badly scratched floors a deeper grind to resurface the stone can be necessary and this is where the premium equipment and diamond abrasives come into play.

Holes can be filled and cracked repaired as part of a restoration or as a separate job in itself.

Stone Floor Cleaning Guide, By Type

Ceramic tiles are probably the most basic to clean but still require the right product and machinery to get the best result for you and bring them back to looking new.

Once your floor has been cleaned we can apply a sealer which will assist you in regular maintenance by protecting against day to day spillages.

As with all our floor services the grout will be cleaned and as an option we can colour the grout (sometimes the same colour as before) with a water resistant product which will make it much easier to clean on a daily basis.

Granite is widely used in both domestic and commercial spaces because it is a very hard stone and therefore resistant to damage from scratching and staining.

Maintenance, as a result, is normally required slightly less frequently than with other stones but, due to the hardness, it can be more difficult for all but specialists to deal with.

We offer a full range of cleaning, sealing, polishing, resurfacing and repair to your granite surfaces so call now for some advice….

Limestone is a softer stone than marble and is very versatile; looking great with either a honed (matt) finish, a soft satin shine or highly polished.

Over time your limestone floor can become dull. The dullness is often caused by microscopic scratches on the surface of the limestone where it has been walked on. This will make its appearance deteriorate and we can bring it back to its former glory.

Other times it may be caused by acid etching. This is where the top layer of your natural stone has been slightly dissolved by something acidic such as orange juice or coffee.

When limestone is polished diamonds are used on your floor to gradually reduce the surface tension and remove all of the tiny scratches and it is this that gives the high shine which you maybe looking for.

If you are looking for a honed finish then the diamonds would only be used up to a certain grit. This means that the floor is resurfaced, cleaned and small scratches and etches removed but not closed up so much that it shines.

If your floor has been laid and the tiles are not quite even then the floor may require resurfacing to remove “lippage”. This is an involved process but the results are stunning: the floor will have the appearance of being a single piece of stone where the tiles have been bought to he same level as the grout lines. As a result future cleaning is also much easier as soiling doesn’t get stuck in the grout lines.

If your limestone has chipped or cracked we can repair this using a high quality epoxy which will be colour matched for you. Sometimes your floor may just be dirty and in need of a clean. We can clean the stone itself and also the grout and follow up with a sealer which can make following maintenance easier for you.

Exactly which process is used will be determined by several factors which will be discussed with you on your first enquiry and then further on our site visit and inspection.

Over time your marble floor can become dull and lose its lustre and shine. The dullness is often caused by microscopic scratches on the surface of the marble where it has been walked on. This will make its glossy appearance deteriorate and we can bring it back to its former glory.

Other times it may be caused by acid etching. This is where the top layer of your marble has been slightly dissolved by something acidic such as orange juice or coffee. Using our cleaning and polishing process we can remove the etch marks and make your marble shine again.

Porcelain is a type of ceramic tile fired at higher temperatures than others in the same family making it harder and more impervious to water.

It is often overlooked as being easy to clean and not problematic but can still become soiled and when soil is engrained it can be very difficult to remove. We can overcome this with products and machinery designed to get into the microscopic pits where the soil is held.

Once your porcelain floor has been cleaned we can apply a sealer which will assist you in regular maintenance by protecting against day to day spillages.

As with all our floor services the grout will be cleaned and as an option we can colour the grout (sometimes the same colour as before) with a water resistant product which will make it much easier to clean on a daily basis.

Although quarry tiles are very durable they still suffer from a number of issues which we can rectify for you.

One common issue is old layers of sealer which need to be removed using a variety of products leaving the tiles clean.

Sometimes efflorescence (which is caused by moisture and results in the appearance of salts on the surface) can be an issue. We can remove this for you whist cleaning.

Whatever cleaning or restoration is provided your quarry tile will then be ready for sealing.

Sandstone has been used as a floor covering for a long time due to its durability for both internal and external uses but can end up with engrained soiling or, where topical sealers have been used, patchy areas.

We have the solution for you any of the issues which can occur with sandstone whether it needs cleaning, old seal removing or resurfacing and polishing.

Once this work has been carried out we will offer advice on the best sealer to use to enhance the often beautiful colours in your stone whether interior or exterior.

Slate floors can look fantastic with their textured finish and vibrant colours. However, with a build up of soil in the low points and with old layers of sealer deteriorating they can be in need of some special attention.

We will use our specialist machinery and products to remove the soil and old sealers back to the original slate finish. Following this new sealer will be applied in layers to create the finish you require; from matt to satin to gloss with colour enhancing options available.

Proper application of sealer will make your floor easier to maintain.

If you would like your slate floor to look flatter then it can be resurfaced using our diamond grinding tool; leaving a colourful easy to maintain surface behind for you.

Terracotta is one of the most porous floors which we come across but has been used for many years back to Roman times (and for pottery and sculptures long before this).

Due to this porosity terracotta becomes quite easily ingrained with soil and even discolours.

Sealing itself can be a long process as multiple coats are normally required as the porous tile takes in all the sealer.

It is important to get this right but the effects of using layers of a colour enhancing sealer can be fantastic.

Over time your terrazzo floor can become dull and lose its lustre and shine. The dullness is often caused by microscopic scratches on the surface of the stone where it has been walked on. This will make its glossy appearance deteriorate and we can bring it back to its former glory.

Other times it may be caused by acid etching. This is where the top layer has been slightly dissolved by something acidic.

When terrazzo is polished diamonds are used on your floor to gradually reduce the surface tension and remove all of the tiny scratches and it is this that gives the high shine which you are looking for.

Sometimes your terrazzo may just be dirty and in need of a clean.

We can clean the stone itself and also the grout and follow up with a sealer which can make following maintenance easier for you.

Exactly which process is used will be determined by several factors which will be discussed with you on your first enquiry and then further on our site visit and inspection.

Terrazzo is very durable and is laid using fragments of stone mixed with concrete and / or resins to produce stunning designs. Unfortunately the older method of laying this type of flooring is dying out with most of the last generation of “terrazzo men” literally taking their books of trade secrets and designs to the grave.

Fortunately we can still restore this for you. If there are stones that have come loose they can be filled with an epoxy resin and can be polished.

Travertine cleaning can comprise many different factors due to the nature of its construction.

Often a restoration job will involve filling holes. Some travertine does come factory filled but over the first few years of use the more tend to appear in the spots where there is a thin weaker layer of stone above a void. These will be filled with an epoxy resin.

Over time your travertine floor can lose its lustre and shine or even if a honed finish just look generally dull. The dullness is often caused by microscopic scratches on the surface of the travertine where it has been walked on. This will make its appearance deteriorate and we can bring it back to its former glory.

Other times it may be caused by acid etching. This is where the top layer has been slightly dissolved by something acidic such as wine or fizzy drinks.

When travertine is polished diamonds are used on your floor to gradually reduce the surface tension and remove all of the tiny scratches and it is this that gives the high shine which you are looking for.

If you require a honed (matt) finish or something in between then we stop the process a bit earlier before the surface tension increases and a shine appears.

If your floor has been laid and the tiles are not quite even then the floor may require resurfacing to remove “lippage”. This is an involved process but the results are stunning : the floor will have the appearance of being a single piece of stone where the tiles have been bought to he same level as the grout lines. As a result future cleaning is also much easier as soiling doesn’t get stuck in the grout lines.

Sometimes your travertine floor may just be dirty and in need of a clean. We can clean the stone itself and also the grout and follow up with a sealer which can make following maintenance easier for you.

Victorian tiles (sometimes known as encaustics) are another type of ceramic. Their colours and geometric patterns give a classic look and are often found in hallways of houses from that period.

Sometimes efflorescence (which is caused by moisture and results in the appearance of salts on the surface) can be an issue. We can remove this for you whist cleaning.

The other most common issue is older layers of sealant which have been applied and correct and complete removal of these is essential for proper results.

After cleaning a resolving the above issues a topical sealer is applied in coats to enhance the colours and protect the floor; making ongoing maintenance easier for you.
